New Ebay Store!

Ebay Store

I opened a storefront on ebay. I haven't listed any items yet, but my plan is to put several items up for auctions that last a day so that I can get the "ending soon" traffic. Auctions tend to do better than "buy it now" products on ebay, generally speaking. My husband and I have had moderate success selling some of my items at auction using my husband's account, but I am hoping with some promotion and advertising, I can get people to buy from an ebay storefront that is more directly linked to my Etsy shop. I'll continue to update you on how things go. For now you can check it out here:

Original Oil on Canvas Paintings

Original Oil on Canvas Paintings

I'm listing a couple of my original oil paintings in my etsy store. This was my original intention for this shop, that it be an outlet for me to sell my art that I have already created as well as my art as I complete it in real time. The painting above is one that I did last week in my Tuesday painting class that I am taking from the master Del Parson at Dixie State University this semester. I completed this painting in under 3 hours ( I am very proud of that fact and am impressed that I am improving at least with regard to time, when it comes to my oil painting) By the way, Del Parson gives this piece a 5 out of 5 (This is not an official endorsement, but my grade of "5 points." Yes it was an assignment, and it is a reproduction of another artist's work. I do not know the name of the original painting or the name of the artist. I used a photocopy as a guide while painting this.)
The painting below is one of the first oil paintings that I ever completed. It is my very first landscape painting. It was completed in either 2004 or 2005 (I don't know the exact date). It is a rendering of the Knysna Bay in South Africa. I painted it from a photograph in a book on South Africa that my parents have.  I have always loved the bright blue sky in this painting. It is the reason I chose this landscape as a subject. For more information on the paintings and to get a closer look, visit my shop:

Internet Marketing is Hard Part II

Internet Marketing is Hard

Okay, so a couple of days ago I wrote a blog entry and I was all "Internet marketing is hard!...There must be a better way!" (see "Internet Marketing is Hard!":
http://emmaelizabethartwork.blogspot.com/2014/01/internet-marketing-is-hard.html )

I Found A Better Way

Well, I found the better way! FACEBOOK ADVERTISING! The idea was given to me by my friend Glady Dalton (She's an amazing photographer! Here is a link to her Facebook page Glady Anne Photography:
http://www.facebook.com/gladyannephotography?ref=ts&fref=ts )
She said she got thousands of people viewing an ad for her calendar that she put up on Facebook and it cost her $7.00 to run the ad.

What I did

Okay, so here's the deal, I paid Facebook $5.00 a day for 2 days. I tailored my ads the first day to increase the likes of my business's Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emma-Elizabeth-Artwork/501294183325528?ref=tn_tnmn
That ad ran for 2 days and got my page a total of 70 likes.
On the second day, I created an ad to increase traffic to my Etsy shop. The add ran for 24 hours and got me a total of 53 views to my etsy shop. I was able to reach 3 times the number of people in those 2 days with my facebook ads than I was able to reach in one week promoting my shop on etsy. I got 17 times the number of views in one day of facebook ads, than I was able to get in one week of promoting my shop with Etsy's search ads! I have now stopped paying Facebook (I only paid $10.00) and the likes on my Facebook page are steadily increasing and so are the views to my Etsy shop.

The Drawback

I'm not saying promoting on Etsy is a bad thing, in fact, the one benefit is that the people who see my Etsy search ads are already members of Etsy and don't have to create an account. My Facebook ads have not yet resulted in sales and I suspect the reason is because people who see those adds aren't necessarily members of Etsy. My next idea is to develop my website emmaelizabethartwork.com into a storefront so that people can buy there without an account. Once that's done, I will pay facebook to promote it because I am very impressed! One of my favorite features of their ad service is that I am able to tailor my ads to get the result that I want. (example: my first campaign was to increase my page likes on Facebook. My second campaign was to increase traffic to Etsy.) Both times, I was very pleased with the outcome.

Shameless Self-Promotion

I hope this blog entry will help other people who are trying to develop small internet based businesses. In the mean time, here are some links:

INTERNET MARKETING IS HARD!

So...I don't know if you all know, but internet marketing is hard! I am having trouble getting the amount of traffic I want going through my etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/emmaelizabethartwork), and I am trying different things. First, I have been paying Etsy.com to promote my shop through search ads. This has not worked out all that well, to be honest. In the last 7 days I have paid $3.95 for 2,649 impressions. Those impressions have resulted in 10 views of my shop. --YES 10. --- 10 people viewed my shop in the last 7 days, and I paid them $3.95 to do it. On top of that, nobody bought anything.
There has got to be a better way!...right?!
Well, I don't know, but I'm going to find out.

I'm linking my pinterest page: (http://www.pinterest.com/emmaelizabethme/)
and facebook page: (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emma-Elizabeth-Artwork/501294183325528)
to my etsy shop site.
I have a link to encourage people to sign up for my mailing list at my website (http://emmaelizabethartwork.com/)

My husband is helping me out by selling some of my jewelry at auction through ebay. Here are some pictures of the earrings I have for sale. The auctions start at $4.99 and SHIPPING is FREE!
The pictures are links so if you want to shop these earrings or get a closer look, just click your favorites.

Hand Painted Mosaic-style Candle Holders

Mosaic-style Candle Holders

I currently have these available in either blue or white at my etsy store:

These candle holders are really cool because when you light a small pillar candle or tea light in them they cast  colored light all around in a mosaic pattern. I had a lot of fun making them! The brush strokes and whimsical look are purposeful (emphasis on "hand-painted"). I use enamel paint and glass candle holders to make these and they are only $10.00!
I have a variety of similar hand-painted glass candle holders for sale. Some have hand-painted flowers. They come in lots of fun colors and shapes to fit any home decor. Check them out in my Home Decor section here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/EmmaElizabethArtwork?section_id=14686796&ref=shopsection_leftnav_3

What I'm Working on Today

Trying This...

I'm painting a candle holder to look like stained glass and have a kind of mosaic effect. I think it will look really good with a tea light in the bottom, casting all the different colors of light around it. It needs a bit of cleaning up, and I'll post more pictures when it's done. I would love to do a real stained glass finish with copper tape and solder. I'll be trying that next.
